The toner preps, the cream seals, and this is where the work happens. It carries the same AHA, BHA and PHA trio at higher concentration than the toner, so it is genuinely the active step rather than a repeat.
What separates it from the toner is the addition of niacinamide. Acids clear congestion; they do very little about the brown marks a blemish leaves once it has healed. Niacinamide addresses that second problem, which is why this step turns a clearing routine into one that also improves tone. Centella Asiatica calms the inflammation that accompanies active breakouts.
Apply after the toner and before moisturiser, starting every other evening. Because both toner and serum carry acids, watch your total exposure - using both daily from day one is how people end up with a compromised barrier and conclude the line does not suit them.

Do I need this if I use the toner?
The toner preps, this treats. If you only buy one, the serum does more work. Using both is the intended routine but build up gradually - the acid exposure adds together.
Will it help with acne marks?
The niacinamide works on the flat brown marks over eight to twelve weeks. Red marks are dilated capillaries and respond to time and barrier repair instead.
Is the tingling normal?
A mild tingle on active breakouts is normal. Persistent stinging, burning or redness means you are using it too often - drop to every third evening.
Can I use it in the morning?
Better at night. Acids increase sun sensitivity, and evening use avoids stacking that with a day of UV exposure.
