Balm going on, oil on contact.

It transforms from a soft balm into a silky oil the moment it meets warm skin, which is what lets it dissolve a full day of SPF without dragging. Centella in the formula is why it does that without leaving reactive skin flushed.

How it feels

Firm in the jar, collapsing into a silky oil on contact with warm skin, then turning milky with water and rinsing without residue.

Key ingredients

  • Centella Asiatica

    Centella Asiatica

The calming element. In a first cleanse this is what stops thorough removal turning into irritation on reactive skin.

  • Olive & Jojoba Oil

    Olive & Jojoba Oil

What dissolves sunscreen and base makeup, chosen to emulsify fully rather than leaving a film.

  • Vitamin E

    Vitamin E

Keeps the oil phase stable across the life of a jar that lives open in a bathroom.

About the product

Medicube's Super Cica Deep Cleansing Balm handles the step that matters most in a climate where high-factor sunscreen is worn daily.

The first cleanse has to remove a full day of SPF completely - incomplete removal is the most common cause of congestion, and far more common than the sunscreen itself being at fault. This is a balm-to-oil formulation: firm in the jar, collapsing into a silky oil the moment it meets warm skin, which is what lets it dissolve sunscreen and base makeup without dragging on the skin.

Centella Asiatica is the second half of the design. A thorough first cleanse involves a minute of massage on skin that may already be reactive, and centella is what keeps that from ending in redness.

Vitamin E keeps the oil phase stable across the life of the jar.

Apply a small scoop to dry skin with dry hands, massage for around thirty seconds, then emulsify with water and rinse. Follow with a gentle foam if you wear heavy base makeup; for sunscreen alone it is generally enough on its own.

Why we stock it

A balm-to-oil transformation with centella in the formula covers the two things that matter in a first cleanse - complete sunscreen removal, and not provoking skin that is already reactive.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a second cleanser?

For sunscreen alone, usually not. For long-wear foundation or heavy eye makeup, a gentle foam afterwards catches what remains along the hairline and jaw.

Can I use it on wet skin?

No - dry skin and dry hands. Water present at the start makes the balm emulsify early and it will not dissolve sunscreen properly.

Will a balm clog my pores?

Congestion from a balm nearly always comes from incomplete rinsing rather than the oils. Emulsify fully with water first, then rinse several times.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

The centella is there for exactly that. Keep the massage to around thirty seconds - over-massaging irritates more than the formula does.
