The usual approach is to brighten by leaving something visible on the skin - a fine layer that catches light, and which on closer inspection reads as chalk, especially on deeper skin tones and in strong daylight. This formula works through a dense moisture gel network that carries both the UV filters and the tone-up effect, so the result looks like skin catching light rather than a coating sitting on top of it.
Vitamin derivatives provide the brightening half, working on tone through daily use rather than only optically, and hyaluronic acid stops the formula settling into fine lines - which is where a chalky sunscreen usually reveals itself by mid-afternoon.
Apply as the final morning step. It works well under makeup and also stands alone on days when you want a little evening-out without base. As always, use roughly two finger-lengths for face and neck.
