Each pad has two faces. The embossed side lifts flaking and surface debris - a gentle physical sweep. The smooth side delivers the essence itself. Using them in the wrong order is the most common mistake, and it is why some people find pads harsh: sweeping with the treatment side first drags product across skin that has not been cleared.
The essence pairs AHA and BHA at daily-use strength. The pairing matters: AHA works on the surface while BHA is oil-soluble and works inside the pore, which is why pore-focused products almost always use both. How to Use
An exfoliating step, not a daily toner. Build up frequency slowly - the AHA and BHA are buffered, but they are still acids, and overuse shows up as tightness and stinging.

Embossed side first
After cleansing, sweep the textured side over the nose, chin and anywhere pores are visible.

Then the smooth side
Flip the pad and press the smooth side over the rest of the face. Do not rinse.

Build up slowly
Start at 2-3 times a week. Increase only if skin stays comfortable, and skip it on days you use other actives.

Sunscreen the next morning
Exfoliated skin burns more easily. Daily SPF50+ is essential while you use these.

Can I use them every day?
Build up rather than starting there. Three or four times a week for the first fortnight, then daily if your skin stays comfortable. Tightness or stinging means you have gone too fast.
Which side do I use first?
The embossed side, to sweep. Then turn to the smooth side to press the essence in. Doing it the other way round is what makes pads feel harsh.
Do I need a toner as well?
No - the pads replace that step. Follow with serum and moisturiser as usual.
Can I use them with retinol?
Not on the same night while you are adjusting. Alternate: pads one night, retinoid the next. Both on the same evening is a common route to a damaged barrier.
Do I still need sunscreen?
Yes, and more so than usual. Chemical exfoliation increases sun sensitivity - without daily SPF you undo the result and risk pigmentation.
