Ceramide

Provitamin B5, for the tightness and reactivity that follow a compromised barrier.

The formula pairs hyaluronic acid with ceramide, which is a more considered combination than it first appears. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant - it pulls water into the upper layers of skin, and in a dry, air-conditioned environment it will pull that water straight back out again unless something holds it. Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier lipids, and they are what keep the water where the hyaluronic acid put it.
Around them sit glycerin and panthenol, both plain and both effective. There is no fragrance, no essential oil and no active with a competing agenda.
This is the cream for a routine that has become too complicated. When skin is stinging, flaking or reacting to things it used to tolerate, the useful move is usually to strip back to cleanser, this, and sunscreen for two weeks. It is also a sensible partner to retinol or acids, applied afterwards to take the edge off.

Is this heavy enough for very dry skin?
For most dry skin, yes, used as the last step at night. In severe dryness or constant air-conditioning, press a second thin layer over the driest areas rather than applying one thick coat.
Will it work for oily skin?
It is a true cream rather than a gel, so oily skin often prefers it at night only, with something lighter in the morning. Oily skin can still be dehydrated - the two are different problems.
Does it contain fragrance?
No added fragrance and no essential oils, which is why we recommend it for reactive skin and during a barrier-repair stretch.
Can I use it with retinol or acids?
Yes, and it is a good partner for them. Apply the active first, let it settle, then this on top to reduce the dryness that follows.
Is hyaluronic acid enough on its own?
Not in a dry climate. A humectant needs something to seal it in, which is exactly why this formula pairs it with ceramide rather than selling the hyaluronic acid alone.
