A barrier cream has to seal, and the conventional way to seal is occlusion - a heavy film that physically stops water leaving. That works in a cold dry winter and is unwearable in Gulf humidity, so people here end up choosing between repairing their barrier and being comfortable.
This seals through lipid structure instead. Ceramides rebuild the matrix rather than covering it, which is what allows a genuinely light texture to still hold water in. Panthenol handles the reactivity that accompanies a damaged barrier, and hyaluronic acid provides the water for the ceramides to hold.
