The first is size. Most eye products are 15ml, and people ration them accordingly - which means never applying enough to see a result. This is 30ml, priced so that using it nightly is realistic.
The second is strength. Eye products tend to be either too gentle to do anything or built around actives too aggressive for the thinnest skin on the face. This uses retinal - a step more active than retinol - at a dose calibrated specifically for the eye area, with panthenol buffering the dryness a retinoid inevitably causes. Ginseng root extract and niacinamide provide the supporting base.
The texture is a light serum rather than a rich cream, which matters around the eyes where heavy products can cause milia. Apply a small amount at night, patting along the orbital bone rather than right up to the lash line. Start two or three nights a week and build up. - After cleansing and toning, pump 1–2 times and gently pat a small amount around the eye area using your ring finger. Start gradually if new to retinal. Use sunscreen during the day. Avoid combining with AHA, BHA or PHA products to minimize irritation

Is retinal safe around the eyes?
At the dose used here, yes, provided you build up gradually. Start two or three nights a week and increase only once your skin is comfortable. Pat along the orbital bone, not right up to the lash line.
Will it help with dark circles?
It depends what causes yours. Pigmentation-driven circles respond gradually; circles caused by shadowing from bone structure, or by visible blood vessels, will not change with any topical product.
Can I use it with other retinoids?
Do not layer two retinoids on the same area. If you use a retinoid on your face, either keep it away from the eye area and use this there, or alternate nights.
Morning or night?
Night. Retinal degrades in light and increases sun sensitivity, so it belongs in the evening routine with sunscreen the following morning.
